At Hesston Elementary, we are committed to helping students become their best. Many of us have grown up thinking that kids do well if they want to and it is our job to motivate them to learn and do their best. What if there was a different way of looking at student behavior? What if kids do well if they can? Dr. Ross Greene is a leading expert on kids with challenging behavior. His book "Lost at School" explains the research and strategies that support his conclusion that "kids do well if they can". He believes that it is our job to identify what skills a student is lacking (we can teach skills!) and what unsolved problems are getting in the way and causing challenging behavior.
